Russia, Ukraine Trade Accusations after Attacks
In Ukraine, Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper reported on Telegram that “as a result of the enemy's night attack on the Odesa region, one person was killed and six others were injured.” He noted that three of the injured were in serious condition after drone strikes targeted port facilities, residential areas, industrial sites, and energy infrastructure. Kiper added that “fertilizer warehouses were damaged in the port,” while debris from downed drones fell on a car dealership and a sanatorium, and two additional drones struck residential buildings. Fires caused by the attacks were quickly extinguished by emergency responders.
Separately, Zaporizhzhia Governor Ivan Fedorov said a person was killed following a drone strike on the city of Orikhiv, near the front line. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that preliminary data shows its defenses shot down 111 out of 154 drones launched by Russia overnight.
On the Russian side, Andrey Bocharov, governor of the southern Krasnodar region, stated on Telegram that the Russian Defense Ministry repelled a “massive” strike targeting residential and industrial sites.
Damage was reported to private homes in Volgograd and nearby municipalities, with three people hospitalized. Bocharov noted that “drone debris has been reported falling on the grounds of several industrial enterprises,” and said emergency services were mobilized to assess damage, assist victims, and prepare temporary shelters.
Russia’s Defense Ministry separately claimed that its air defenses shot down 58 Ukrainian drones overnight, including 43 over the Volgograd region.
